Free parking is available, and CCTV is in operation.
Electric cars
There are no electric car charging points at the accomodation and it's prohibited for guests to bring power cable extensions and plug these in at the property to charge their vehicles; as it will blow the electricity fuse board.
There are car charging points in Sedbergh:
Loftus Hill car park, LA10 5RX.
Joss Lane car park, LA10 5AS.
Public transport
The closest station is Oxenholme, about a 20 minute drive from the property.
If you are travelling in via public transport, please contact me if you require local taxi information.

Breakfast will be served between 8 - 10:00 AM. This is to allow you time to start your day slowly, to sleep in if you wish to.
Lunch will served at 2:30 PM on Saturday.
Dinner will be served at 7:00 PM on Friday, and starts at 6:00 PM on Saturday.
Alcohol
On both nights, a cocktail will be served before dinner. Wine will be served with the main course of dinner. If you would like alcohol outside of these times, please feel free to bring your own. Soft drinks, water, tea, and coffee will be available to you throughout the day.

I want you to leave this weekend feeling like you never want to leave. There’s no pressure to socialise, stay up late, wake up early, or be “on” at any point. Make it your haven, let me know what you need and I'll do my best to accommodate.
Outside of our planned activities, your time is completely your own: explore the nearby book town, curl up with your current read, take a quiet walk, or simply switch off and do absolutely nothing.
Reading rules
The library is our dedicated no-talking zone. This is a completely quiet space to properly sink into your book. Please respect the no-talking rule while you’re in there.
There are plenty of other areas around the property to cosy up and read, if you prefer background noise. I understand it can be tricky to set boundaries with people you’ve only just met, so I’ve put a small ‘quiet time’ system in place for when you’d rather not be interrupted while reading. I’ll talk you through it on arrival. While I can't control noise levels outside of the library, I'll do my best to keep a generally quiet atmosphere.

If you've opted in for a massage, these will be taking place on the property between 10:45 AM and 2:30 PM on Saturday.
Your massage therapist will ask you to fill in a mini consultation form before your treatment.
Timings will be communicated to you on Friday night, and you will have an opportunity to change your appointment time, within reason.

From 3:00 PM on Saturday, the conservatory and lounge will be off limits to allow myself and my team to set up your murder mystery extravaganza. There are plenty of places to read - I do not forsee this inconveniencing you in any way.
It is a 1920s theme and you may decide to dress up. I would like to reiterate that it is not mandatory to dress up - no one will judge you if you don't. If you do decide to dress up, please, please, please don't spend any money - dig out your favourite dinner party outfit!

Towels and bedding are provided, and there is a hairdryer in each room.
Packing ideas and/or reminders:
Don't panic if you forget something - the main town is not far away.

What to expect on your first night with us
We’ll show you to your room so you can settle in properly. Once you’re ready, head to the dining room for a welcome drink (or tea and coffee, if that’s more your thing). Take time to meet the group, potter around the property, and slip into retreat mode - whether that looks like a cosy read, a little nap, or a quiet wander.
We’ll gather for dinner – the perfect chance to properly meet everyone if you haven’t already. Afterwards, there’s no schedule to follow: read, relax, chat, swap book recommendations, or turn in early. Whatever feels good.
There is so much to do in this beautiful town - too many to mention here!
Take a look at Visit Sedbergh for ideas. I've highlighted a few things below that you could fit around your reading retreat.
The Yorkshire Dales National Park has developed a free GPS-enabled walking app offering 35 fantastic trails for Apple and Android smartphones throughout the National Park. There are walking routes in and around Sedbergh.
It’s designed to appeal to walkers of all ages and abilities and the mix of linear and circular routes are graded to help you make an informed choice of a walk and you can select from either a list or map view.
The app’s key feature is an offline mapping tool that allows you to track a walk, regardless of whether there’s a mobile phone signal. It also contains essential information such as the Countryside Code, what kit to take, and safety tips.
For more information go to Yorkshire Dales National Park App or you can download the app by searching 'Yorkshire Dales National Park' in the Google Play Store.
Sedbergh is England’s official Book Town. Choose from a huge variety of books, from favourite reads to collectables available from a wide range of book sellers in shops and cafes. You can even sit and read a book in the Book Shelter.
My recommendation is to spend Sunday afternoon doing the
The Dales and Lakes Bookshop Trail (with interactive map) before heading home.
Please reach us at info@novelretreats.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
